ADPS2 Plugin - Requirements, Q&A, Terms

REQUIREMENTS

- WordPress version 2.5-3.x, installed and working. If you have a working version of WordPress, then you should have all the requirements filled for running ADPS2. It uses the WordPress database, and the same versions of PHP, linux, etc because it runs as a WordPress plugin.

- Share A Sale (SAS) affiliate account. The main ADPS2 system is built for Share A Sale only, so you must have an affiliate account there. If you do not have an affiliate account with SAS, it's fast and free to set up. Just click here and sign up, then continue with the next instructions below.

- One or more Share A Sale Merchant Partners. After signing up with Share A Sale, you must add one or more of the merchant partners to your account. You will not earn commissions from merchants if you are not joined with them first. Joining is also free, and most will automatically accept new affiliates. NOTE: Since you'll want to use the merchant's product datafeeds, be sure to sign up with merchants who offer datafeed files. (Step by step instructions are included with your purchase)

- FTP datafeed access at Share a Sale. Datafeeds are free at SAS, but you must request FTP access to them for each merchant you are affiliated with. So if you are signed up with 3 different merchants, you must request datafeed access from each of them. SAS makes this easy to do in bulk, and again it's completely free. (Step by step instructions are included with your purchase) NOTE: Some merhants provide their datafeeds via Web download but the formats sometimes differ, so these do NOT always work. The FTP datafeeds are best (and automated).

- Server based PHP FTP services must be turned on. (See note below about BlueHost) MOST web hosting companies have this turned on by default, but on rare ocassions I've seen it turned off. This is NOT required to post products to your site, but it is required for initial datafeed retrieval and datafeed updating.

Once you have been approved for datafeed access at Share A Sale, then you simply need to enter the Merchant's Name and ID into the ADPS2 Control Panel configuration area. Save that configuration and you're good to go. A Detailed installation and configuration PDF manual is included with your purchase.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q: Can I use datafeeds from another affiliate network such as Commission Junction?
A: No other networks are available at this time

Q: Does ADPS work with all hosting companies?
A: Until early 2009 yes. However at the beginning of 2009 one hosting company known as BlueHost no longer allows server to server FTP transfers, so the datafeed retrieval and updating functionality of ADPS will no longer work there. All other functions work fine.

A Great hosting company I recommend is HostGator

Q: How hard is it to install the ADPS2 Plugin?
A: Not hard at all! After paying for your license, you'll download a zip file. Unzip that and then upload the ADPS2 folder and all it's files into your WordPress Plugins directory. Then you simply log into your WP Admin area, activate the plugin, and you're ready to configure it. Full step by step instructions are included with your purchase.

Q: Do you offer support if I run into any problems getting it running?
A: Yes! :) Problems are quite rare and the few that we've come across are documented well in the PDF manual you get with the software. If for some reason you come across something ADPS specific which is not covered though, we'll help in any way we know how. Please understand that as much as we like to help, we cannot troubleshoot other scripts, software, plugins, theme design problems, wordpress specific bugs, etc.

Q: Can I use this plugin on multiple websites?
A: Yes! You pay just once, and you're allowed to use the plugin on as many websites as you personally own.

Q: Can I give the plugin to my friend/brother/whatever for their websites?
A: No. Each person must buy their own license

Q: Can I create websites with this plugin that I intend to sell to other people?
A: Yes but ONLY if you make it clear the new owner must buy their own license to legally use the plugin once they've purchased the site from you. If they do not buy their own license, they will not be registered as a legitimate licensed user, and they could be prosecuted for theft.

Q: Can I resell, distribute, or give this plugin away to others?
A: No. This is for your use on your own websites only.

Q: Can I promote this plugin and earn affiliate commissions?
A: Yes! :) You can promote ADPS ClickBank. Click here for those details...

Q: Do I have to link back to you when I use this plugin?
A: Linking back or having a "Powered by ADPS2" statement is very much appreciated but it's not required.

Q: Will upgrades be free?
A: Minor enhancements and bug fixes will be available to licensed users at no cost. Major version releases will not. Example: If you buy ADPS version 2.x, you will be entitled to any upgrades released within the 2.x version series. When we move to the 3.x series, there will be an upgrade fee.

Q: Do I have to do anything to "prepare" my datafeed files before using them?
A: If you really insist on doing all the work yourself, you're more than welcome to :) ADPS2 does all that AUTOMATICALLY for you though, so why create work you don't have to do? So NO. You do NOT have to download, clean, prepare, or otherwise "mess with" the datafeed files in any way. Just click the button :)

Q: How do I prepare the product datafeeds for use on my site?
A: Yes I'm being repetitive here, because many people seem to have a hard time understanding how easy this really is. :) You do NOT have to do anything to prepare the datafeeds for use. In fact, you don't even have to touch them or look at them in any way. Just click the button and ADPS2 does all of the work for you.

Q: Where do the product images come from? A: All product images are supplied by the SAS merchant in their datafeeds. ADPS looks for and uses a thumbnail image by default, and if that does not exist it will look for and use the larger product images.

Q: Does ADPS update products previously posted on my website when it gets a new version of the datafeeds?
A: Sorry but no. That functionality is more advanced, and would be included in a much more expensive software application.

Q: Can ADPS be configured to drip feed products onto my site for longer than 30 days?
A: Sorry but no. Again, this functionality would be something available in a $300-$500 software application, plus it would require much more robust server resources (aka a Dedicated server). There's also a risk of having products loaded onto your site a year in advance, that the merchant removes in the meantime.

Q: Won't I get duplicate content on my site?
A: Due to the design of ADPS, it's highly unlikely :) Please see this page for more detailed information...

Q: Will ADPS work with (some name) WordPress theme?
A: ADPS only creates content in the form of posts on your website, so the theme you use does not usually matter. It's possible that highly customized themes which rely soley on extra fields in WP will not work, but I've yet to come across any that don't show the standard content in some way. So as long as the theme shows the WP post content, it'll work fine with ADPS :)

Q: Will ADPS work with (some name) WordPress plugin?
A: Usually yes. Any plugin which is properly coded to use the standard WP plugin hooks and functions should not conflict in any way with ADPS, and ADPS should not conflict in any way with it :)
