March 18, 2009: Today I'm thrilled to announce the release of yet another wonderful WordPress tool that can help you automate even MORE of the functionality of your websites!
If you're like me, you use WordPress to run lots of websites. It's fast, easy, and free, plus it comes ready for action right "out of the box". And those of you who know me also know that I can't stand doing repetitive business and website tasks, which is why I tend to release new automation tools once in awhile. There's simply no reason to keep doing the same things over and over manually, and there's no reason to hire someone else to do them manually either... not when they can be automated by scripts and software!
Now, WordPress is very well optimized for search engines right from the start, but there are still many things we can all do to help improve the onpage SEO of our sites too. And one of the things we can do is use WordPress tags.
I originally did not like the WordPress tag feature when it was first released. I felt it was silly and redundant. Over time (and upgrades) I came to realize just how useful - and powerful - that little feature could be.
Let's say you have a beauty and fashion site for example. That's a very large and broad niche, right? So you break it down into smaller sections such as jewelry, clothing, and shoes. In WordPress, those small sections are usually set up as categories. They're still a bit broad though, so you might want to break them down further... Something like: sandals, pumps, and boots underneath shoes - or women's shoes, men's shoes, and kids shoes.
Those additional breakdowns can be sub-categories underneath the shoe category, or they can be tags, that's up to your particular preferences.
Now if you want to dig into deeper, more narrow or long-tail related niches within niches, that's where things can get a bit more complicated and messy. You can continue making sub-sub-sub categories of course, but by this point I think most of us start creating tags instead. Maybe you want something like: casual, western, and professional to further define the various types and styles of shoes. Or maybe you'd like to define price ranges, colors, or sizes.
The usefullness of tags isn't limited to just large sites either. They come in handy as excellent search engine food no matter how small or large your site might be.
Each time you add categories, sub-categories, sub-sub-categories, and tags to your WP websites, you are creating more relevant keywords for the search engines PLUS you are creating laser targeted additional content pages too. And if you use tags in a similar way to what I've just described, you end up creating many different long tail, low competition pages all related to the rest of the content on your website. And because of that narrow focus, these new pages are very likely to get ranked well in search engine result pages!
Now, adding tags to an automated site is not fun or easy. In fact, if you already have large content sites like those created with my ADPS and ZipPoster tools, you probably haven't bothered with tags too much because you don't want to do the manual work involved. You automated the sites for a reason right?
Some of you have asked for a way to automate tags over the last 6 months or so, and I'm thrilled to say that we've finally done it! :)
Don't get me wrong here though: PostTagger doesn't require any other program, software, or special server setup to work. All that's required is a self hosted version of WordPress 2.6 or 2.7!
In a nutshell, PostTagger will automatically add tags to your posts based on criteria you define. You simply create your WP tags as you normally would, then configure them in the PostTagger admin area, then you're done!
You can apply the automated settings to existing posts in your database, and you can turn on automatic tagging for all new posts too. Then when you're creating a new post on your site manually, PostTagger will add the appropriate tags to it for you.
If you add posts to the site automatically with ZipPoster, ADPS, or other automatic content publishing plugins, PostTagger will automatically assign tags to those too.
And if you have Reposter turned on, each time a post is republished it will get the appropriate tags added to it as well.
Let me give you a brief tour with some screenshots...
WordPress 2.6

You define keywords that must exist in a post, and those that are not allowed to exist in order for this tag to be applied automatically. (Top: WP 2.7, Bottom: WP 2.6)
There's no known limit to how many keywords you can allow or disallow for each tag either. As you add keywords to a tag, PostTagger will add additional keyword spots for you automatically!

You can do a "test run" to see how your configuration is working. (Top: WP 2.7, Bottom: WP 2.6) If you like how PostTagger is working, you can commit changes anywhere throughout your test. You can also click a post title to refresh your memory of what it's about, and you can click a tag to jump back down to the keyword list and make changes.
PostTagger is designed to be convenient too! Whether you have a lot of tags to configure or just a few, you can work on however many you'd like at once. Configure just one at a time, or a few at a time. If you prefer to do everything at once, you can do that too! :)
If you're reading this page now, it's because you're on my VIP email list, or I've posted a special offer at the Warrior Forum. Either way, that means you can get in on the initial low price for this brand new tool. And as always: All bug fixes are free to existing buyers, and any upgrades which are released within the same version number series are provided to buyers free as well.
So are you ready for this?
For a limited time, you can snatch up this brand new plugin for a mere $9.95!
Yeah I'm serious and no that's not a typo ;) There are no hidden costs and no ongoing fees. I know a lot of people are struggling with issues caused by the economy these days, so this is my small way of trying to help out as many as I can.
You can order through PayPal anytime of the day or night, using any major credit card or your PayPal account balance, and you'll be able to download the plugin immediately after completing your payment!
License: My software is strictly for your use only. With an active, valid license you may use it on as many of your own websites and domains as you'd like. You may not sell it, give it away, share it, add it to public download sites, or otherwise distribute it in any way.
P.S. This sales letter and the accompanying plugin documentation are still rough around the edges. I'll be updating and refining everything over the next several days!
P.P.S. As always, your purchase is completely guaranteed. If you have any problems getting PostTagger to work on your server, I will do everything in my power to help you get those problems resolved. If for some reason we are unable to fix legitimate functionality problems within 30 days, you can request a full refund.
