... Even if you don't have anything new to post!
Reposter is a quick and easy WordPress plugin that recycles your posts on a schedule of your choosing. This way, even if you do not have new articles or other content to add to your site, the "freshness" factor is still in play so Google will keep spidering, and keep sending visitors too.
All it does is "update" old posts with the current date. Specifically Reposter will find the oldest post in a specific category, and re-date it with the current date and time. It does this on the schedule of your own choosing, which can be as frequently as every 6 hours or as spread out as 10 days. You can also choose to not repost articles and content in specific categories.
This plugin is very self explanitory, but here's a quick overview and screenshot for you:
1. Install Reposter.php by uploading it to your Wordpress Plugins directory
2. Log into your WP admin panel, go to the Plugins section and Activate Reposter
3. Go to the Settings menu in the WP admin panel and click the Reposter link there.
4. Configure your preferences...
SCREENSHOT:
Select the update schedule you'd like for each category you have configured on your WordPress site.
If you'd like to have the oldest post in any of the categories updated immediately, put a check mark in the box next to "Run Now". Once you have your selections made, simply click the "Save Changes" button.
All the categories you have chosen to recycle posts in will now show the approximate date and time of the next update.
NOTE: You do NOT need to run a server cron job for this to work. Reposter uses the built in WordPress cron feature.
The built in WP cron is not quite as reliable as a server cron, because it is dependant upon your site receiving visitors. Because of this, if your site gets little to no traffic, Reposter might appear as if it's not recycling posts on schedule. You can side track the problem by visiting the site yourself regularly, or making sure you have at least a small trickle of traffic coming in regularly.
This plugin works with WP standard version 2.6+. It will most likely NOT work with WP 2.5 and under and it does not work with WPMU.
As with all of our plugins, Reposter is coded to WordPress standards and thus plays nice with any other properly coded WP plugin :)
